By Lizbeth Kariuki Is it always true that looks don’t matter? There are times when I have stared at the lips of the person talking to me and thought “Boy, all the difference it would make if you put some Vaseline.” Instead I make subtle suggestions through hints like licking my lips, or picking out my lip balm and putting it on hoping they will ask to use some (not that I like sharing it). I think I’ll compare this situation to when the person you’re talking to has bad breath, or something on them that you desperately want to remove, so at the end of the conversation you did not catch a word of what was said because your concentration was elsewhere. It’s the little things, you know? Here are some of the ways I treat my lips to keep them moisturized. How to get rid of that white stuff that appears on your lips I had to begin with this because it’s happened to me too many times before. And I hate it. It is mainly caused by dead skin cells on the lips or at times the type of lip balm or lip moisturizer used. TIP 1: Get rid of dead skin cells! Here’s how an old toothbrush can come in handy. Put some petroleum jelly on your lips and brush off dead skin with a toothbrush. Similarly, to keep your lips from chaffing, use your toothbrush to brush off dry skin everyday after brushing your teeth. NB: Be careful not to bruise your lips by brushing them too vigorously. Sometimes you can rub a towel over your lips to remove dead skin cells. This way you won’t suffer from chapped lips either. TIP 2: Try and find the right lip moisturizer for you! I use Vaseline. Of course there are several brands out there, and it is up to you to find what suits you. If you find that you get the white stuff on your lips too often, it could be that you need to switch brands of lip moisturizer. If you can’t find one that suits you, just stick to petroleum jelly – I swear it’s the best beauty solution ever! TIP 3: Maintain smooth lips! You can put some petroleum jelly or lip balm every night before going to bed, and your lips will thank you. TIP 4: What if you have cold sores-Egh! If you have any cold sore’s or wounds on your lips, the best thing to do is not apply products such as lipstick. Allow for the wound to heal fully, but if you must use moisturizer, use petroleum jelly. There are also great products with ingredients that contain healing properties, such as… if you suffer from severely dry lips. SHOP IT!
Petroleum Jelly can be bought for anywhere between Ksh35/- and above depending on the brand.

By Wini Nduta Have you ever been so excited to match your bag with your outfit only to realize that you forgot your wallet or your favorite lip balm in the bag you had the day before? If you are like me, you have so many bags u cannot keep up. My quick tip is to empty your bag onto a tray immediately you get home; this way you can see all your stuff and plan what it is that you will need for the next day. If you are too tired, just make sure to empty the bag and leave the planning for the morning. This is also a good way to remember to air you handbag.
Using a handbag for long periods of time without changing it up leads to more wear and tear- which means you will spend more money buying a new bag every few months.. So see the many bags as more of an investment although they are fashion statements too. Click on our comment box to share what your thoughts are, we love to hear from you. By Lizbeth Kariuki Owning up to the fact that you shop for second-hand clothes is not something you would do openly and audaciously. Case in point, sitting in a restaurant, I said to a friend, “Wow, that is a great top you’re wearing, where did you get it?” Loudly and with a cheeky grin she replied “From Woolworths and right after she whispered “Actually from Toi market.”
The question is, how can you really tell whether someone is wearing second-hand clothes or not? There are various tips and tricks to make your second-hand clothes look new. She recently joined the four eyes club which I have been a member of since I was 12 years old. I rarely wear my glasses though, I find whatever frame I pick looks unattractive on me so I mostly wear them at home. So I figured since my boss also wears glasses, why not feature an article on frames. You know talk about face shapes and which frames go with them. The simple diagram above illustrates face shapes My genius sister also found a site online that has a huge collection of frames that you can order it's called Lens Crafters. They have a gigantic number of styles to choose from. This site is also good for just browsing. check them out at http://www.lenscrafters.com/lc-us |
