By Wini Nduta Sema baridi lol! But I just did a 20 minute work out and I now have all this energy. I'm listening to an inspirational video while typing. Have you ever thought about the law of attraction? Hmm...
My post today is about decorating your house. I've seen on TV people can change the color of their walls or even add installments to their rental homes. That's a dream in Nairobi. Landlords don't really allow you to change anything. So here's what I do to try and quieten my creative mind. First in my bedroom, where I spend most of my time, the cushions are of different colors. My pillow cases, the same. This allows for the room to look a bit more decorated, like you put in some effort yoh! Second, in my sitting room I have hang a colored cloth, sort of draping on the wall. This breaks the monotony of the plain color of the wall. Almost making the wall look like a painting. The cloth has a floral print. Make sure the cloth you choose has a color similar to the wall so that it matches, or not; you can make it abstract too. Scent is also an important part in a home. I like incense; Jasmine and Lavender are my favorite. Your nose is important and I believe pleasing the senses makes for a comfortable home. Remember in my last post I spoke about soft pillows and the feeling on your toes? Some people prefer air fresheners that come in the aerosol cans, I like the more natural products. Another way to spice up the color in your home is to have differently colored curtains so that when you was and switch them out, you get a new experience each time. Enjoy! Share some of the ways you introduce color into your home. We would love to hear your ideas, just click on the comment section. See you next time.

By Wini Nduta The Nairobi weather has been on the chilly side the past few months. Especially where I live, I adopt the kujifunika gubi gubi side of life to get through the night. My bed is very important to me. I dress it with fresh sheets, pretty duvets and a few more pillows and cushions than I would want to admit; I plan on getting more by the way!
The cushions come in handy when I am sitting on the chair next to my bed; reading or typing. They offer good support for my back and neck. I also drop one on my feet for warmth. If you get especially cold like me, I think it's a good idea to get a heater. I switch mine on for about ten minutes then close my bedroom door; that will help keep the room warm. On colder nights I fold an extra blanket at about knee length on top of my duvet. This helps so that if it gets hot I can just reach and put the blanket on the chair and go back to sleep. You can check out my Interior Decor board on Pinterest for more ideas on how to decorate your bed and make the room more cosy. What tips do you have to keep warm during this cold season? |
